Get Involved

You don't have to wait until we have a building to be part of what we're building.

Beyond the Margins Collective is starting with community. That means we're building relationships, listening to people's ideas, finding collaborators, and creating opportunities to participate long before we have a permanent physical space. We don't want to build something and then ask the community to show up. We want to build it together.

You don't need a particular skill, title, or role to be part of Beyond the Margins.

Follow along, join our mailing list, attend an event, answer a community survey, share an idea, or introduce yourself. Sometimes simply showing up is how community begins.

Artists, Creators & Makers

Are you a local artist, illustrator, photographer, writer, musician, performer, crafter, designer, or maker?

We want to know you.

As Beyond the Margins grows, we're building toward opportunities for local creatives to showcase their work, sell their creations, perform, teach workshops, collaborate, and connect with new audiences.

You can introduce yourself now and help us build the creative community that will eventually fill our walls, stages, shelves, and events.

Performers & Musicians

We envision Beyond the Margins as a place where local performers can take the stage.

We're interested in connecting with musicians, singers, poets, comedians, actors, storytellers, and other performers who may want to participate in future events.

Whether you're an experienced performer or just looking for your first opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.

Community Organizations & Partners

No organization can provide everything on its own.

We're interested in connecting with local nonprofits, community organizations, schools, libraries, businesses, service providers, advocacy organizations, and other groups already doing meaningful work in our community.

Potential collaborations could include:

  • Community events

  • Workshops and educational programs

  • Resource fairs

  • Referrals and resource navigation

  • Donations and drives

  • Creative programming

  • Volunteer opportunities

  • Professional partnerships

  • Future community-care initiatives

If you're already doing work that aligns with our vision, we'd love to meet you.

Volunteers

As the project grows, we'll need people who want to roll up their sleeves and help make things happen.

Future volunteer opportunities may include:

  • Event support

  • Community outreach

  • Book and clothing drives

  • Sorting and organizing donations

  • Arts and cultural programming

  • Tutoring and educational support

  • Social media and communications

  • Administrative support

  • Community resource projects

We'll build volunteer opportunities around people's actual skills, availability, and interests. Reach out here to be added to our no obligation volunteer mailing list.

Skill Sharer

Maybe you don't have time to volunteer regularly but you know how to do something really well.

We're interested in connecting with people who can share skills, knowledge, or professional expertise.

That might mean:

  • Teaching a workshop

  • Helping someone write a resume

  • Offering creative instruction

  • Providing professional advice

  • Helping with events

  • Sharing business knowledge

  • Connecting us with useful resources

  • Donating professional services

  • Mentoring someone

Community is full of people with things to teach and things to learn.

Local Business

Local businesses can become an important part of the Beyond the Margins community.

We're interested in building relationships with businesses that may eventually be able to provide:

  • Event partnerships

  • Donations

  • Sponsorships

  • Professional services

  • Supplies

  • Food and refreshments

  • Transportation assistance

  • Skilled trades and maintenance partnerships

  • Opportunities for community members

We're especially interested in partnerships that create tangible benefits for the people we're trying to serve.

Donations

As we grow, there will be opportunities to donate books, clothing, hygiene products, art supplies, food, furniture, and other useful items to support our future programs and community initiatives.

We're not accepting every type of donation yet, because we want to make sure anything we collect can actually be used responsibly.

We'll publish specific donation needs and guidelines as programs develop. Reach out here to be added to our no obligation donation needs mailing list.

Have an Idea?

This might be the most important way to get involved.

Maybe you have an event idea.

Maybe there's a resource you think our community needs.

Maybe you know an organization we should meet.

Maybe you've always wanted a particular kind of gathering space in Cleveland.

Tell us.

Beyond the Margins is still being built, which means there is still room for your ideas to shape what it becomes.

Get in Touch

Beyond the Margins isn't meant to be one person's project.

It's meant to become a community made up of people with different experiences, identities, talents, ideas, and needs.

Some people will volunteer.

Some will create.

Some will perform.

Some will donate.

Some will partner.

Some will simply walk through the doors someday and find a place where they feel at home.

All of those things matter.
